As the manufacturing industry continues to move towards automation and intelligence, industrial vision systems play a key role in quality control and product inspection. Especially in precision inspection scenarios, any slight error may lead to quality problems and production losses, and even customer complaints. As the "eyes" of the visual system, the selection of visual equipment directly determines the imaging quality, detection accuracy and overall stability of the system.

This article will combine actual application cases to systematically analyze how to choose suitable industrial lenses in precision inspection for customers, and help companies build a more stable, accurate and efficient visual inspection system.

1. Product selection

High-resolution images are the basic equipment for precision inspection, but high-resolution cameras alone are far from enough, and lenses with data analysis are also required. Low lens resolution will lead to blurred images and loss of details, which cannot meet the needs of high-precision inspection.

Let's share our previous customer cases with you:

In the inspection solution we provided to a semiconductor packaging customer, the customer needed to detect whether there were tiny cracks or warping in the chip packaging area, and the defect size was less than 0.03mm. The MV-DP3060-01D binocular 3D laser profiler used in our matching hardware selection successfully met the customer's stringent requirements for high-resolution and high-contrast imaging.

2. Focal length and field of view

The focal length and field of view of the industrial 3D camera directly affect the coverage and clarity of the picture. If the focal length is too small, the image is prone to distortion; if the focal length is too large, the detection target may not be fully captured. Reasonable matching needs to be balanced according to the size of the object to be measured, the installation space and the detection accuracy.

We once served a customer who made LED modules to detect whether there were leaks and offsets in multiple lamp beads. Due to the limited installation space of the production line, we finally selected Lomosen's fixed-focus lens and matched it with an industrial camera to achieve efficient detection in a small space. The customer was very satisfied with the image coverage and clarity.

3. Distortion control capability

In applications that require precise geometric measurement, such as circular hole position detection, packaging and positioning, if the image is distorted, the algorithm calculation result will be wrong.

When we were measuring dimensions for automotive parts customers, we used a telecentric lens with low distortion, combined with a high-precision camera, to effectively avoid the problem of edge image stretching and improve the stability of the measurement.

4. Contrast and aperture control

Contrast is particularly critical for the identification of surface details such as scratches, pits, and depressions. The lens needs to have good edge sharpness and the function of adjusting the aperture to adapt to the state of the product in different lighting environments to ensure that the image is not exposed.

5. Environmental adaptability

High-speed production lines or harsh working conditions pose challenges to the durability of lenses. Choosing industrial lenses that are shock-resistant, dust-proof, and well-sealed can reduce the risk of line stoppages due to equipment failures.

The customer's testing equipment has been installed in a high-temperature, dusty stamping workshop for a long time. We selected an IP65-rated industrial lens for it, and installed a protective cover and a blowing system. After more than half a year of operation, the image is still clear and the system is stable and correct.

Although the lens is small, it is related to the overall situation. Reasonable lens selection can not only significantly improve the detection accuracy and operating efficiency of the visual system, but also avoid rework and time costs of later system debugging. Zhixiang Vision has rich experience in lens selection and application cases in the field of industrial vision. We provide customers with full-process services from lens selection, visual system construction to software algorithm support, helping precision manufacturing to move to a higher level.
